WHAT: As part of the Great Lakes Legislative Caucus meeting being held in Erie, Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) will host a demonstration of Osprey nesting boxes and address the successful placement of these boxes in the area. Osprey are known to build large nests atop power poles, which can be potentially life threatening to the birds. This can also cause damage to power lines and potential power outages. Wentling has been at the forefront of an effort to increase the number of boxes in Pennsylvania and adjacent states.
WHO: Wentling will be joined by Dr. Sarah Sargent, executive director of Erie Bird Observatory, officials from power companies and other legislators from the United States and Canada.
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 21, at 2:15 p.m.
WHERE: Meet at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center at Presque Isle,
301 Peninsula Drive, Erie.
