CONNEAUT LAKE – As a way for residents to safely have documents with personal information shredded free of charge, Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Erie/Crawford/Mercer/Lawrence) is teaming up with the Better Business Bureau to host a shredder event on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at the Linesville First Baptist Church, 6114 U.S. Highway 6 in Linesville.

“Identity theft is a growing crime in the nation that has cost Americans more than $100 billion over six years,” Wentling said. “Shredding important documents is an easy step to battle identity theft. This event will give residents peace of mind knowing their documents were properly destroyed.”

Wentling and his staff will also be on hand to disseminate helpful tips to protect residents from becoming victims of identity theft and fraud.

Residents are encouraged to bring documents that contain credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information and bank account information to be shredded. Residents are asked to bring papers and documents in loose form.

Magazines, books or trash will not be accepted. This is an event for residents only; no businesses, please.

For more information, contact Wentling’s district office at 1-855-249-2427.
