HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) and Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47) announced today that Westminster College is the recipient of a grant through the Multimodal Transportation Fund to replace a bridge and to improve pedestrian safety along College Drive in New Wilimington.
“This $438,116 grant through the Commonwealth Financing Authority is an investment in New Wilimington that will benefit all residents,” Wentling said. “I’m proud to have helped secure this funding to improve pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the New Wilimington area.”
The scope of the project includes the replacement of the bridge on College Drive, which will be expanded, and the construction of new sidewalks to connect existing walking paths on campus to roadside sidewalks. New light posts will also be installed at both ends of the bridge to improve pedestrian safety.
“The existing College Drive Bridge has deteriorated significantly in recent years, resulting in weight restrictions and costly annual repairs. This grant will replace one of New Wilmington’s most frequently used bridges,” said Sen. Vogel.
