HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) reminds residents the deadline to apply for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program has been extended from June 30 to Dec. 31.

“Earlier this year, my office hosted numerous Property Tax/Rent Rebate clinics throughout the district to help residents complete the forms,” Wentling said. “My staff is well versed in the forms and will gladly assist constituents who need help. Residents can call my office toll-free at 1-855-249-2427 to set up an appointment.”

The program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with permanent disabilities age 18 and older. Eligibility income limits for homeowners are set at the following levels, excluding 50 percent of Social Security benefits:

• $0 to $8,000, maximum $650 rebate (homeowners and renters)
• $8,001 to $15,000, maximum $500 rebate (homeowners and renters)
• $15,001 to $18,000, maximum $300 rebate (homeowners only)
• $18,001 to $35,000, maximum $250 rebate (homeowners only)

Residents are reminded to provide all the necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims quickly and accurately. First time filers must provide proof of age or permanent disability.

Checks will begin to be mailed on July 3. Claimants who already applied for their rebates may check the status of claims by calling, toll-free, 1-888-PATAXES.
