October 19, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced $425,425 in Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits to support six projects serving communities in the 7th Legislative District.

The awards, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, will encourage business contributions to projects addressing hunger, home repairs, job training and economic development.

“Folks around here look out for their neighbors,” Wentling said. “These awards will help put food on tables, keep homes safe and give people a chance to learn a trade. That’s money well spent.”

The approved projects include:

• Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County, Sharon – $104,975: Support efforts to provide nutritious food to residents throughout Mercer County.
• Hunters Sharing the Harvest, serving Greenville and the region – $26,000: Offset deer processing costs to provide 20,000 pounds of donated venison to families across 13 northwestern Pennsylvania counties.
• Hope Center for Arts and Technology, Sharon – $1,950: Provide additional residential construction training for adult learners in its construction trades program and help prepare them for employment in the field.
• Tails of Hope, Hermitage – $29,250: Support PAWSitive Pathways to Veterinary Careers, a workforce development program providing veterinary clinical experience to western Pennsylvania students interested in veterinary professions.
• Valley Shenango Economic Development Corporation, Sharon – $29,250: Establish a shared-use commercial kitchen at The Landing to help local food businesses grow, create jobs and expand access to fresh food.
• Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation, serving Farrell – $234,000: Complete critical health and safety repairs at a minimum of 10 owner-occupied homes belonging to households with low to moderate incomes, helping prevent blight, vacancy and displacement.

The Neighborhood Assistance Program offers tax credits to businesses that contribute to approved projects benefiting distressed communities. Eligible projects include food assistance, affordable housing, community services, education and job training.
