Wentling Announces Preservation of 102-Acre Shenango Township Farm

June 11, 2026

GREENVILLE – A 102-acre crop farm in Shenango Township has been preserved from future residential or commercial development, Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced Thursday.

The $117,621 easement approved through Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program for Matthew A. Stefanak’s farm means the Stefanak farm remains in agricultural production and won’t be sold to developers.

This easement was part of the 1,775 acres on 22 farms in 16 counties across Pennsylvania that was preserved today by the State Agriculture Land Preservation Board. Including the farmland that was just preserved, the state’s Farmland Preservation Program has protected 6,726 farms and 667,360 acres in 58 counties from future development across the Commonwealth.
