Wentling Honors 75th Anniversary of Greenville’s Adams Hotel
June 5, 2026
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) on Friday presented a citation to Richie Williams, owner of Greenville’s Adams Hotel, to celebrate the hotel’s 75th anniversary.
“To stay in business for 75 years requires the conviction to operate with integrity and vision,” Wentling said. “The hotel has earned a reputation for a friendly atmosphere, great service and good food, including their fresh fried chicken, and I hope they will continue to offer that type of hospitality for many more years to come.”
“My dad bought it in 1951, I became the manager in 1988, dad retired around 1989 and then he sold me the place in 1998. I’ve been here for 42 of those 75 years,” said Williams, noting the Main Street establishment, which backs up to the Shenango River, still has hotel rooms.
Williams said he’s seen a lot happen along the Shenango during that time, including Wentling's help with the river's cleanup and his championing of the Shenango River Trail.
“We’ve done a lot of work on the river, cleaning it up. A couple years ago it was PA River of the Year,” noted Williams, who said, like the river, he, Wentling and others are always working to revitalize Greenville. “I’m a Greenville guy. Parke’s a Greenville guy. The places in town used to be packed. We’re trying to get back to that.”
Williams noted the importance of “keeping things local,” something Wentling also voiced.
“Small businesses with the staying power like the Adams Hotel are the backbone of our communities,” said Wentling. “I’m proud to draw attention to that type of commitment to Greenville.”
