PA Cybersecurity Center to Get $100,000 Job Training Grant, Says Wentling
May 5, 2026
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) today announced Hermitage’s Pennsylvania Cybersecurity Center (PCC) will receive a $100,000 state grant to strengthen its workforce development efforts.
The grant will support the launch of an esports initiative aimed at engaging younger students in technology-focused education, using competitive gaming as a tool to enhance student skills in cybersecurity, networking and strategic thinking.
“This is funding for our future workforce and our local economy,” Wentling said. “As a former technology education teacher, I recognize cybersecurity and information technology are rapidly growing fields. It’s critical we equip our students and workers with the skills they need to succeed. I’m proud to have secured this grant for the Pennsylvania Cybersecurity Center and to support opportunities that will benefit our community for years to come.”
Operated by LindenPointe Development Corp., PCC offers a range of professional certification courses while also exploring immersive, team-based cybersecurity training programs. These initiatives aim to give students real-world experience and prepare them for careers in the cybersecurity workforce. PCC partners with several higher education institutions, including Penn State University, Thiel College and Westminster College, to ensure program quality and alignment with academic standards.
To date, PCC, in more than three years of operation, has trained over 200 students across Northwestern Pennsylvania in cybersecurity fundamentals and certification pathways. This project represents a strategic expansion designed to significantly scale that impact.
Funded by money appropriated by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Job Training and Education Programs Grant is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and aimed at strengthening workforce development, economic growth and educational partnerships.
