Wentling, PA Treasurer Garrity Return More than $16,000 in Unclaimed Property to Greenville Owners
April 17, 2026
GREENVILLE – State Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) today joined Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity to return more than $16,000 in unclaimed property to three rightful owners in Greenville.
Garrity first presented an $11,150.40 check to Steve and Nicki Godfrey of the Phil Godfrey Ford Dealership in Greenville. Following that presentation, Garrity and Wentling walked to the Shenango River Trail-Downtown Greenville Trailhead, where a second check for $4,559.61 was presented to Mike Kotyk on behalf of the Mercer County Trails Association, of which Kotyk is treasurer. A third event in Greenville’s Veterans Park with Mercer County Sheriff Tim Callahan was held immediately after the second check presentation, with a $400 check presented to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
Unclaimed property includes items such as dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance payments and other financial assets that have been turned over to the Pennsylvania Treasury until they can be returned.
“This program is a great example of government working the way it should,” said Wentling. “Every dollar returned through Treasury’s unclaimed property program is money going back where it belongs – to the people and organizations who earned it. It’s incredibly important that we continue to raise awareness and make sure rightful owners are found so these funds can be put to good use in our communities.”
“I was thrilled to join Rep. Wentling to return more than $16,000 in unclaimed property to the Mercer County Trails Association, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Phil Godfrey Ford Dealership in Greenville,” said Treasurer Stacy Garrity. “Treasury is working to return more than $5 billion in unclaimed property to individuals, businesses, nonprofits and local government entities – so I encourage everyone to search regularly!”
The Pennsylvania Treasury currently holds billions of dollars in unclaimed property and actively works to reunite individuals, families and businesses with their assets. Residents and organizations are encouraged to search the Treasury’s database to see if they are owed money.
Wentling thanked Garrity for bringing the program directly into Mercer County and helping connect local recipients with funds that belong to them.
