Wentling Announces Nearly $2 Million in Funding for Transportation, Municipal Infrastructure Projects

HARRISBURG –Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) today announced three transportation projects and five municipal infrastructure projects within the 7th Legislative District have been awarded funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) and Small Water and Sewer program.
“These projects will improve transportation and upgrade essential water and sewer infrastructure across the 7th Legislative District” said Wentling.
The transportation projects receiving funding are:
- Hermitage will receive $500,000 to help fund the construction of roadways and trails in the LindenPointe Innovative Business Campus in the city.
- Jamestown will receive $232,158, the full amount requested, to help install new sidewalks or replace existing sidewalks located on Main Street, Jackson Street and Water Street in the borough.
- Sharon will receive $350,000 install traffic signage, improve traffic signals and widen North Dock Street.
Funds from the MTF may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
The municipal infrastructure projects receiving funding are:
- The Hermitage Municipal Authority will receive $250,000 for a project that would install a gravity sewer main along Dermond Road in Hermitage. This would eliminate the need for on-lot disposal systems and will effectively remove the public health hazards in the area.
- Sharon will receive $100,000 for improvements and upgrades to the 50 existing catch basins located in the city.
- The Jamestown Municipal Authority will receive $100,000 to fund renovations for the area water treatment plant.
- The Sharon City Sanitary Authority will receive $100,000 to relocate existing sewer lines to accommodate improvements for bridge 2339.
- The Shenango Township Municipal Authority will receive $250,000 for pump station improvements located along State Route 18 north.
The Small Water and Sewer grants assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control projects.
