HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced today the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is awarding $1.05 million to Sharon City School District to further establish safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for kids, while preventing and responding to acts of bullying, violence and hate in the community.
“As a former teacher and father of school-age children, I understand the importance of a secure and welcoming learning environment,” said Wentling. “This grant will help Sharon City schools as they continue to provide a positive learning atmosphere for our students.”
This funding is awarded through the federal Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) Stronger Connections Grant (SCG). It allows high-need local education agencies to promote the social, emotional, physical and mental well-being of students and staff; address family and community engagement; and promote equitable and inclusive policies and practices.
