HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced today that fire and ambulance companies in the 7th Legislative District will collectively receive $291,549 in state grants to support their public safety mission.
“Our EMTs, paramedics and firefighters put themselves at risk to protect the rest of us,” Wentling said. “An investment in our first responders is an investment that benefits everyone.”
The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.
Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt. All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with OFSC to receive their grants.
The grants were awarded as follows:

Elite EMS: $15,000.

Farrell Volunteer Fire Department Inc.: $14,034.16.
•
Greenville Fire Department: $14,617.72.
•
Greenville Fire Department EMS: $15,000.
•
Greenville Volunteer Fire Company: $13,450.59.
•
Hempfield Township Volunteer Fire Department of Mercer County: $13,450.59.

Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department Inc.: $16,951.99.
•
Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department: $13,839.63.
•
Patagonia Volunteer Fire Department: $14,034.16.
•
Sharon Fire Department: $16,951.99.
•
Sharpsville Volunteer Fire Department: $16,368.42.
•
Shenango Township Volunteer Fire Department EMS: $15,000.
•
Shenango Township Volunteer Fire Department: $13,839.63.
•
South Pymatuning Township Volunteer Fire Association: $13,256.07.
•
Transfer Volunteer Fire Department EMS: $15,000.

Transfer Volunteer Fire Department: $14,423.20.
