HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) was appointed to serve on three House committees – Game and Fisheries, Local Government, and Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development – for the 2023-24 session.
“I look forward to my committee assignments and ensuring the voice of the people in the 7th Legislative District is heard in Harrisburg,” Wentling said. “Having previously served on these committees, I am familiar with many of the issues that come before them.”
Wentling, who has served on the House Game and Fisheries Committee since 2015, will be the committee’s Republican vice chairman. He’s been a member of the Local Government and Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development committees since 2017.
Below is a brief description of each committee:
• The Game and Fisheries Committee receives and reviews annual performance and status reports from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and addresses all legislation affecting them.
• The Local Government Committee reviews bills that would amend the municipal codes of townships and boroughs. This could include legislation related to local government purchases, real estate assessment policies, and other local government issues.
• The Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development Committee considers issues including travel and tourism promotion, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, scenic roadways, snowmobile and trail-related initiatives, agritourism, recreational use of land and water, Pennsylvania Wilds and many others.
These assignments come after he was named as a deputy chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee on Jan. 23.
