HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced today that Sharpsville Area Middle School received $18,328 in state grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to purchase a new electric conveyor oven.
“As a former educator, I am pleased to see one of our community schools receive this grant,” Wentling said.
Funding for the grants is made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Grants are awarded to schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program. Schools use the grants to purchase or upgrade equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves and dishwashers.
More than $2.7 million in competitive grants was awarded to 130 local education agencies across the state for the purchase of new food service equipment for cafeterias.
