HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) announced today a $29,910 grant, funded through the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, was approved for the Albion Area Public Library.
“Public libraries serve a crucial role in the education of our students and communities,” said Wentling. “Whether you need to complete a class assignment or find a book to read, libraries are important institutions that must be accessible to everyone.”
The funding will enable Albion Area Public Library, located in the historic former rest house of the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad, to replace a required ADA handicap accessible ramp.
The Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund was established by an act of the General Assembly in 1993. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Bureau of Library Development, administers the public library portion of this program, which is funded from a portion of realty transfer taxes.
