HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) announced today that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) awarded Linesville Borough more than $1 million in grant funding to improve water quality and infrastructure.

“This funding will help municipalities continue to provide dependable water service at an affordable rate,” said Wentling. “It will also create a positive impact for the residents of Linesville Borough. I am happy to see the Linesville Municipal Authority continue its commitment to providing clean, quality water and pleased that PENNVEST approved this project to help better serve the district I am honored to represent.”

The project for the Linesville Municipal Authority will replace more than 2,000 feet of existing 4-inch, lead-jointed cast iron line with new 8-inch plastic pipe. This will repair sections of the water system’s infrastructure where frequent leakage and breaks occurred, which will eliminate the risk of lead exposure to borough residents.

Founded in 1988, PENNVEST provides low-interest loans for design, engineering and construction of publicly and privately owned drinking water distribution and treatment facilities, as well as storm water and wastewater projects.
