Wentling Announces Boating Facility Funding Awarded to Expand Parking Access at Cochranton Landing
March 2, 2020
COCHRANTON - Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) today announced that the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) has awarded a Boating Facility grant totaling $1,000 to the Cochranton Area Redevelopment Effort (CARE).
“Large or small, I am always grateful to see dedicated funding coming back to enhance our region’s already outstanding fishing and boating attractions,” said Wentling. “As always, creating and maintaining outdoor recreation opportunities takes money, and I am confident that these dollars are being wisely invested.”
The grant funding will be used to purchase gravel to improve and expand parking access for the Cochranton Landing (French Creek) boating area located in the Borough of Cochranton. In addition to providing matching funds, CARE will use their own labor to move and smooth the gravel.
PFBC awarded more than $500,000 in boating facility grants statewide to assist with 12 projects in 10 counties.
Projects that qualified for grants—in this latest round of funding—included site acquisition, project design and engineering, development, expansion and major rehabilitation of recreational boat access facilities. Activities must benefit and directly support public recreational boating.
