Wentling Announces Grant for Sharon Downtown Strategic Plan
HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced today an $80,000 grant was
awarded to the city of Sharon to help with its Downtown Strategic Plan. This funding comes from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Municipal Assistance Program (MAP).
This grant will help Sharon officials develop a five-year strategic plan for downtown focusing on economic vitality, design, promotion, and organization, and advance implementation of the recent comprehensive plan.

“It is fantastic news for the city of Sharon to receive this funding,” said Wentling. “These grant dollars will help Sharon continue to renew downtown to make it a place for businesses to thrive and the economy to grow.”
The MAP provides funding to assist local governments to plan for and efficiently implement a variety of services and improvements, and soundly manage development with an emphasis on intergovernmental approaches. Funding is available for two groups of activities: shared services and community planning.
