Wentling Resolution to Honor Sons of the American Revolution Approved by House
Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) met with his guests, including Raynold Prusia, Sr. of Meadville, the president of the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, at the Capitol on Monday.
HARRISBURG – HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives on Monday approved Rep. Parke Wentling’s (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) House Resolution 1065 to mark Oct. 15, 2018, as Sons of the American Revolution Day in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the American Revolution is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.

“As part of the celebration to honor the Sons of the American Revolution, I was privileged to have as my guests to the Capitol numerous officers of the organization as well as a few members of the Daughters of the American Revolution,” Wentling said. “The Sons of the American Revolution is an organization that celebrates those who took part in the founding of our great nation. The mission of its more the 34,000 members is to keep alive the stories of patriotism of our founding members.”

Wentling’s guests toured the Pennsylvania State Archives and the State Museum, where they viewed historically significant items of the American Revolution. The guests were honored in the House and witnessed passage of Wentling’s House Resolution 1065. The group also met with House Speaker Mike Turzai in his office and attended the Senate for passage of a companion resolution, Senate Resolution 461.

The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution is the largest male lineage organization for descendants of those who served or assisted the colonies during the Revolutionary War.
