HARRISBURG ¬– To assist with bringing a revitalization plan to fruition, the Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County (EPACC) was awarded $752,949 in Business in Our Sites (BOS) funding through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) on Tuesday, Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) announced.

The funding includes a $290,318 BOS grant and a $462,631 low-interest BOS loan to fund the development of the Cochranton Community Services Complex.

“We are very excited that the Commonwealth Finance Authority selected this project for funding! This project will have a huge impact on the Cochranton Community and Crawford County as a whole,” stated Jim Becker, executive director of the Economic Progress Alliance.

The nearly 3.5-acre site, owned by the EPACC, houses a 13,300 square foot building, of which 6,300 has been renovated and is currently leased to three businesses. The funding will allow the remaining 7,000 square feet to be renovated for commercial use.

Funding will also be used for the installation of stormwater facilities, erosion and sediment control parking improvements and other improvements. Once the project is completed, 15 new jobs are expected to be created at the site.

“This project will aid our local economy through job creation and ensuring a once vacant property will be in use for years to come,” Wentling said. “I applaud the CFA for seeing the long-term benefits of this project.”

BOS grants and loans provides assistance to communities in order to attract growing and expanding businesses by helping them build an inventory of ready sites.
