HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) was appointed to serve on four House committees – Aging and Older Adult Services, Game and Fisheries, Local Government, and Tourism and Recreational Development – for the 2019-20 session.
“I look forward to my committee assignments and ensuring the voice of the people in the 17th Legislative District is heard in Harrisburg,” Wentling said. “Having previously served on these committees, I am familiar with many of the issues that come before them.”
During the previous session, Wentling introduced House Bill 1936, which was approved by the House Tourism and Recreational Development Committee and signed into law as Act 115 of 2018. This legislation updated the law regarding youth all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riders. The bill was later amended in the Senate to extend weight and size exemptions for logging and other forest product vehicles to Dec. 31, 2023.
Below is a brief description of each committee:
• The Aging and Older Adult Services Committee
is responsible for reviewing all programs and services offered to residents under the State Lottery Law, such as the prescription assistance program (PACE/PACENET) and senior transportation programs.
• The Game and Fisheries Committee
receives and reviews annual performance and status reports from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and addresses all legislation affecting them.
• The Local Government Committee
reviews bills that would amend the municipal codes of townships and boroughs. This could include legislation related to local government purchases, real estate assessment policies, and other local government issues.
• The Tourism and Recreational Development Committee
considers issues including travel and tourism promotion, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, scenic roadways, snowmobile and trail-related initiatives, agritourism, recreational use of land and water, Pennsylvania Wilds and many others.
