HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) announced today that Summit Township will receive a $36,000 Community Conservation Partnerships Program grant from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to improve Gibson Park.

“I am glad DCNR saw the merits of this plan to rehabilitate this recreational asset in our community,” Wentling said. “I look forward to the project getting underway so that residents can continue to enjoy the park for decades to come.”

The grant will be used to fund a project that includes reconstructing a picnic pavilion, installing utilities, improving ADA accessibility, landscaping and other improvements to Gibson Park.

This grant program is administered by DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts, and other nonprofits. Funding is used for planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenway projects.
