Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) and his guests, including Raynold Prusia, Sr. of Meadville, the president of the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, met with House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) and David Reddecliff, chief clerk of the House, at the Capitol in October.
CONNEAUT LAKE – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) has been appointed by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) to serve on the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve on the commission,” Wentling said. “Since its creation in 1945, the PHMC has done a great job preserving our history. I look forward to continuing that tradition.”

Wentling has been a supporter of preserving the state’s history so future generations can learn of its past. Last session, the House passed his House Resolution 1065 to mark Oct. 15, 2018, as Sons of the American Revolution Day in Pennsylvania as part of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

On the day the resolution was approved, Wentling was joined by members of the Sons of the American Revolution and a few members of the Daughters of the American Revolution as guests. During the visit, Wentling and the group toured the Pennsylvania State Archives and the State Museum, where they viewed historically significant items of the American Revolution.

“It was also my privilege to present to Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the American Revolution officials a citation from the House of Representatives to mark its 125th anniversary,” Wentling said.

The PHMC is the official history agency of the Commonwealth. It is responsible for the collection, conservation and interpretation of Pennsylvania’s heritage, which is accomplished through the State Archives, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, the Bureau of Historic Sites and Museums, the Pennsylvania Trails of History, the Bureau for Historic Preservation, and the Bureau of Management Services.
